World's End

  1. What a beautiful photo! Where is it from?

  2. Beautiful! That is also the deepest part of the river if I'm not mistaken.

  3. This was taken on a fall foliage paddle on the Hudson River. We went from Cold Spring to Popelopen Creek & this was taken where the river goes through a sharp kink called World's End. It is indeed the deepest part of the river - the navigation chart shows a maximum of 175' but it's said to be around 200 feet deep at the deepest points. Fast currents, strong eddies, shifty cliff-funneled winds make this a tricky spot to navigate, and in fact this whole stretch of the river has a longstanding reputation for harboring ghosts & goblins & evil spirits.

  5. In 2005, that was probably my first Pentax Optio WP, which was the first model, WP10. My 2nd one was a WP20 which I got after I rather stupidly took the first one surfing despite knowing the battery compartment was leaking. Treated the second one a little better & the next upgrade was to the WP80 I have now.

Another mistake. I was always afraid of the "end of the world".
