My Co-Workers And I Are All Lucky That There Are Not More Children Like This.
Hilarious. I used to give books for presents when I was a kid. I think my friends and cousins ran the other way. Think books were never a popular present--have to ask
I couldn't help but notice that there was an already opened Wii next to this young lad; that's tough competition for a book!
Being retired, but too young to do nothing, I became a volunteer at an elementary school this year. For two hours a day, three days a week, I read to kids or they read to me. The reaction of the child in this video is not like anything I have encountered from struggling readers anxious to improve. Last week, my wife and I read "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" to an assembly of kindergartners, first graders, and second graders, and although we were not that good, you could have heard a pin drop during the pauses. What a great audience! I think your job is safe.
while they might not be quite as excited about books as they are with Lego toys, all 3 of my boys really enjoy books.
my almost 10-yr old son reads constantly - he re-reads some of his favorite books multiple times (Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, etc). my 6 yr old (1st grade) is reading much better now on his own, and my 2 yr old always want to jump on my lap and read him some of his favorite books (usually something with tractors!).
Rat Jerky? We had to walk 5 miles to get rat jerky. In bare feet. In the snow (which by the way is apparently coming with a vengeance toward the east coast). My favorite book was Lazy Tommy Pumpkinhead. Entertaining and taught a good lesson at the same time.

ReplyDeleteWhat a spoiled child... He obviously doesn't realize how lucky he is to get books for Christmas...
ReplyDeleteI honestly think that if I had thrown a fit like that while opening gifts on Christmas, I would have been sent to my room for an hour or so.
ReplyDeleteI liked getting books though.
Yikes!
ReplyDeleteDidn't these parents know they were supposed to get him an iPad?
What is wrong with parents today?
Did I already say, "Yikes" ?
But they already got him a Wii!
ReplyDeleteOne of Gerald's first words spoken was "book".
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!
No BB gun?
ReplyDeleteHa! I had failed to notice the Wii entirely - entirely focused on the children's book drama.
ReplyDeleteNo BB gun. He'll shoot his eye out, you know!
Ol' P, thanks for a good counter-story!
Happy Holidays All!

When I was kid, books were chiseled in stone - and we liked it!
ReplyDeleteA lump of coal could keep us warm - so we liked it!
Toys? A stick, a river stone - and we liked it!
Give this kid some rat jerky. (Even though we liked that too!)
