Bluefish jaws, specifically. Spotted at "Bailout Beach"* under the Verranzano Narrows Bridge. Don't understand why nobody's ever made a schlocky B-grade horror flick about these bad boys...they've certainly got the equipment for the role!

*"Bailout Beach" - explanation will be given when I have a little more time for a trip report. Good name, though.

There is a windsurfer on Long Island who goes by the moniker "Bluefish Mike", a name he acquired after being bitten by some blues when he fell off his board during a feeding frenzy.

Bluefish: they don't taste very good, and they might bite you.

Ow! Rotten way to end a session!

Or did he slap some duct tape on the lacerations and keep surfing?

Semi O.T. - I don't think I've ever seen such a pack of kites & windsurfers screaming around at Plumb Beach as were there yesterday.

I think Mike called it a day after the fish drew blood.

Re Plumb Beach, I'm not surprised...yesterday was the classic summer fantasy day: Sunny, warm, windy, and Sunday!
