Lovely picture. Did you go for a lotus pad(dle)?. As you know, the white lotus is the Buddhist symbol of mental purity.

Rooted in the mud of materialism, the stem grows through the waters of experience until finally it blooms in the sunshine of enlightenment.

I can't help but think of that when I see a lotus blossom. Well, that and how tasty the root is sliced up in soup or tempura. :p

The picture was from a summer trip to Michigan a couple of years ago. I was digging through my old pictures looking for a certain trip that Steve, Milton and I took to Four Sparrow Marsh - Steve had suggested that I print up a few shots & put them on posterboard to bring to the meeting tomorrow.

I'd been trying to decide whether I should do a Martin Luther King day post - I always end up being at a total loss for words on these important days. Saw this picture & somehow felt like it was fitting.
