Australian and French rescue services have been activated and I heard of plans to charter a Quantas plane for an overflight. Two vessels at sea are being diverted to the area. Abby has apparently held off off on activating her third EPIRB, so maybe perhaps that's good news that she's keeping it in reserve. I think all sailors are hoping or praying for the best.

I do hope that's the case. What an awful headline to see. God, it would be so lovely for this one to have a happy ending.

Pat, according to a post by her parents on Abby's blog she has activated the manual EPIRB and her personal EPIRB. The third one not activated is an automatic one that would be activated by contact with water, suggesting that, so far, her boat hasn't sunk. But she clearly is asking for help.

Also, the chartered Airbus should now be only about an hour from her last reported position, which a news story had as

<<40 48 South 74 58 East, approximately 2033 nautical miles west south west from Perth >>

Oh no. I hope for a happy ending.

After a couple of hours of messing around with a burned-out hard drive, just did a search on the internet, since the plane should be in her area now. Nothing yet. Hope there's good news in the morning.

Latest news I've heard is that she has been spotted from the air. Seams the mast is broken, but the boat is floating right side up. She will be picked up by a fishing vessel.

Glad to hear that she is OK. Wonder if she will try again, or has she had enough fun for a while?
