Easter Sunday Swim with the Coney Island Polar Bears
These folks do this every Sunday, all winter, with extra swims when it snows. They're all insane and wonderful. The club holds a lottery for a small number of new membership slots at the beginning of each Polar Bear season; once you join, I think that you are still not a made bear until you have done 12 swims in a season. The press adores the big January 1 event, but being a true Coney Island Polar Bear takes a lot more than just wearing a silly outfit, imbibing some liquid courage, and running into the water on New Years Day!
