I'm taking another quick break from my Caribbean trip reporting because I have some nice pictures from a walk in the Brooklyn Bridge Park to share today.
I haven't been getting out much since I got back from the Caribbean. The weekend after we returned, I came down with a cold that just dragged on and on and on when I got back from the Caribbean, and with our weather having been so harsh I just haven't wanted to be outside any more than I absolutely had to while that was going on. That finally seems to be over except for a lingering stupid little cough, and with our temperatures actually busting all the way up into the 20's today (ooh, and looking at NOAA I see we're all the way up at 31 right now, downright balmy) I was ready to get out of the house for a while.
Kayaking isn't an option right now because the Paerdegat is completely frozen; I was actually toying with the idea of checking out the pool at the new Coney Island YMCA, since the Caribbean put me deep into a swimming mood, but we've had ice in the area waterways for a while and when my friend John (Control Geek) posted a spectacular shot of an icy East River with Manhattan in the background on Facebook this morning, I instantly decided that a walk through the Brooklyn Bridge Park sounded like a great idea, so that's what I did. No towers of Manhattan shining across the river today, but I had a very good time taking pictures in the snow. I've posted more over on Flickr, click here to view.

I've been on conf calls all week with colleagues in NY and Chicago sounds like you've been having a really cold time.
Yeah, it's been a rough winter. Today it's above freezing, it drops to the teens (fahrenheit) tonight, and we'll all need ice skates to get to work.
I would pick NYC over Chicago, I bet it's been harder there!
