I'm back!

And a lovely little jaunt here and there around the northwest corner of the state we've had! Click on the photo for a better view.

Fab pic - I saw it from the Canadian side many years ago

Just yesterday, I thought about how we hadn't heard from you in a while.

Great pic. I'm looking forward to reading more about the tip!

That's good, I'm looking forward to writing about it!

Although I did sort of just post the best picture from the entire trip, so the rest may be a little anticlimactic. Oops. Just had to share this one, though. The American Falls are illuminated by colored spotlights at night and that's very dramatic, but this late-afternoon sun was my favorite illumination - just glorious!

Must be wonderful there at this time of year with all the colours, we were a bit surprised by the commercialisation on the Canadian side

and the American falls looked really interesting with that walkway down what I guess is the western side, but alas we didn't have US visa's,

We were disappointed by all the neon and glitz over there too - people kept telling us the Canadian side was better and we thought maybe part of it was that you aren't looking at as distracting a skyline (although the big new hotel & casino are plenty intrusive, too).

The walkways, strangely enough still billed as the "Cave of the Winds" even though the actual cave doesn't exist anymore, were great fun, they bring you right up to the foot of Bridal Veil Falls and there's one deck that's called the Hurricane Deck where you just get soaked! Between that and riding the Maid of the Mists (oh yes, and the SD card slot door getting bumped open somewhere along the line) my camera went down for a while, I brought an extra plastic bag to wrap it in but an actual drybag would've been better, but fortunately it dried out in time for this photo.

The foliage was beautiful!

Oh, this is interesting, I'd been wondering about the construction of the walkways and Wikipedia explains that nicely - Cave of the Winds article.
