NY Harbor Seal Census!

Too cool! Thanks NB!

BTW - at 0:15 you will see a glimpse of the distinctive building from Sunday's photos - that's one of the buildings of Kingsborough College, just outside the inlet to Sheepshead Bay.

I am a NYer, born and raised (sadly, no longer a resident). My first overnight kayak trip was on the hudson river water trail. And I had no idea. Too cool!

thanks

I'm on a connection right now that's way too slow for me to see the video. But I will say that harbor seals are my favorite pinnipeds. Everybody likes sea lions; they're so outgoing and energetic. But I like harbor seals. They're so imperturbable, contented, and just generally Zen-like as they go about their way.

HMMM! Lets see? We saved the stripped bass and now they eat all the shad. The seals will eat all the stripped bass! Soon the orkas will show up to eat the seals. How did the earth get along before we humans started fixing everything?

Actually what they really like are herring!

And what really like them (and are already here, in fact) are SHARKS!

So I keep a good sharp ear out for the music when I'm out kayaking...

Not for nothing, but I think seals with a Brooklyn accent are sorely needed.

Sharks with accents, not so much. You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Well I'm the only one here...
