Iceboating 4 (last of the series)
I told you I got a little silly last night. Hope you enjoy!
That was my very first music video. I think I won't quit my day job just yet, but it was fun putting it together & I was pretty happy with the end product. Glad you guys liked it!
"one boat's baroque!" oh my...brilliant! hahahahaha!!! beautiful! Wow! music instead of noisy wind! BIG difference! (minus wood cracking is also nice.)
Thanks! I actually spent a fair amount of time picking the music. It all started because I had a whole bunch of video snippets & decided to roll them all up into a compilation. Ended up with 3 minutes of nice footage, with a soundtrack of 3 minutes of blasting winds punctuated with me making occasional inane sounds. I first thought Vivaldi, of course, but the Winter bits were a little dark for such a sparkly day. Ended up cruising music websites & trying the video (sound turned off) with various overtures, trumpet voluntaries & marches. I was definitely after regal - two other serious contenders were The Prince of Denmark March and a selection from the Music for the Royal Fireworks, but in the end, I kept coming back to the piece you hear, The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba from Handel's Solomon - it was just mood I was after & close to the right length. Bought the MP3, did a little more editing to get the video to the right length, figured out how to edit soundtracks & there you have it!
I was just laughing at myself the whole time for getting so obsessive over the project, but I have to say, I did have a lot of fun working on it.

The video was delightful, and the frisson of Masterpiece Theatre lent by the music made it particularly enjoyable.
Here's what it was kinda like to sail through ice in Peconica (the big bays didn't freeze over). Proper nippy when we fell!
Phew! That's what I hoped!
