And people wonder where I got my penchant for bad poetry.

At first I thought it was half a ribcage sticking out of the sand beside some desert highway.

"If ya give this man a ride, sweet memory will die....."

You know, I wouldn't really mind if you did a post with some bad poetry once a week or so.

Kayaks may be all well and good, but how can you not like a post that has some cheesy verse and a goofy visual pun?

Mom is of course also the person who introduced me to Don Marquis. We didn't have the book when I was in elementary school, but she'd mentioned it as something she'd enjoyed when she was a kid, so when I stumbled across it in a secondhand bookstore in Walla Walla, I grabbed it.

I'm pleased to say that this year's bad visual Spring pun is my own work. If it was a ribcage, it would be the ribcage of a mouse - the spring was about the size of the end joint of my pinky finger. I would've worried about the homeowner wondering what the heck I was doing there except that it was right next to the first spring flowers in the entire neighborhood (the snowdrops I showed a couple of weeks back). I think everyone with a camera was stopping and taking pictures!

I was actually quite embarrassed - last Spring's visual Spring pun ended up somehow being very very Google-able for people who were looking for "pictures of the Spring" in images or something like that. Unfortunately it was something I'd swiped from another website without bothering to credit! When I saw this little spring I said to myself "Ha, this year my Spring picture will be my own!"

Hmmm...weekly poetry? That would be an interesting challenge.

You could call it Weekly Weakly Poetry.

O Docker, do you have a vacation coming up soon?

Is it that obvious that I need one, Baydog?
