Sept 11
Photo taken from Liberty State Park in Jersey City, 9/11/2012. Remembering of course. We all have stories from the day; here's mine.
Wow! Bonnie, that is quite some story. The video of the Boatlift, getting people off of Manhattan, is the one I turn to to get the true feel of the heroism of all New Yorkers among the chaos
Thanks, Risa. I wrote that while I was still in something of state of shock and I think the retelling may have been better that way. I never really try to rewrite something because I don't think I could do any better.
If anyone reading this hasn't seen the Boatlift video Tweezerman refers to - it's excellent, please do. I think that the fact that I was able to play even a small role in that huge effort to help people made all the difference in how I came out of the day. "Heroes of 9/11" has became shorthand for the police officers and firefighters who did give so much that day - but there were a whole lot of heroes who weren't in uniform that day, too.

Impossible to imagine what it was like for you that day, although this captures it very well.

In fact I just put that up as its own post. That's a good story from a very bad day, it's good to share it.
Bonnie that is a hugely moving letter.
