US Winter Swimming Championship, La Marina, Manhattan

It was great! They had a beautiful day for it and they swam all day. Here are a few preliminary pictures, I took about a million, of course, and haven't finished sorting them out. Also, if you'd like to learn more about the event, there was a better write-up than mine on DNA Info.

Wish I could have been there Bonnie, it looks like it was a lot of fun.

Great job!
Sorry Captain John Picnic had boat problems and wasn't able to pick up our LICCB docks for the swim, they were ready to go.
Next year!

Great photos, but it's too cold for me!

Me too! In fact I think it might be slightly ironic that as these folks were swimming and swimming and swimming in their Speedos all day, I had to leave before it was over because even though I was fairly bundled up, and there was a nice warm building and hot drinks for all right there, the zipper on my jacket was broken, it was fairly breezy, and I was having so much fun taking pictures that I was absolutely chilled to the bone before I realized that I was chilled to the bone. I did go inside for a while but it was cooling down fast and when I went back outside again, it just didn't feel good, and I decided I'd really had enough outside for one day. I did not want to be the idiot spectator who ended up being the one person all day who made the paramedic on duty actually earn her keep!
