I recall for a long time a big US advantage was no other country had a Dacron factory.

Wonder if the onboard computers need to be made with domestically produced processors.

The mind really does begin to reel...

Somebody over on Adam's blog said "Bring back the Twelve Meters!" and I started picturing people saying "I say old chap, the Italian vessel's decking is constructed of teak, that's not an Italian native timber!"

OK, that's getting a bit silly with it!

I don't think you could get more silly. It's simply ridiculous from the start. I wish I had the kinda money these guys do; the sort to to toss off on a whim. Should I, it would be spent on something like what Haiti might need at the moment.

Y'know, I was just thinking the other day - how much difference would it make if for just one year, the entire world just took all the money we usually spend on sports contests (maybe reserving stipends to keep it from being too hard on lower-level stadium staff & the like), and redirected that money into humanitarian efforts?
