Twelve Days of Christmas - Hawaiian Style!

Because it restores my flagging holiday spirits like no other carol in the world. Mele Kalikimaka!

I've always loved this. When I was a kid growing up in the snowy mountains of Northern New Mexico, we had a local radio DJ who played this song every year.

Neat! I had no idea that the song was that well-known outside of the islands.

I miss Hawaii. Are you going home soon?

I wish! I'm definitely ready for another trip home - I've been entering the contest L&L Barbecue is running 'cause then I could go and take TQ, too. Otherwise...I don't know, I may wait for my 30th h.s. reunion, last trip was for the 25th and I think that on my current personal budget I could probably swing once every 5 years.

I really don't know that the song WAS all that well-known, but "Brrrrother" Bruce McGrath loved the silly and offbeat, and he sought out things like this song. It was always fun to listen to his show.

I'm waiting until it's closer to Christmas to appropriate Joe's santa(s).

It's early, but I was getting a bit of a head start on the holiday blahs - got a wonderful aunt who's been slogging through some awful health problems & she started forwarding some "War on Christmas" emails, which really got me down - I don't agree with all this War on Christmas stuff, and I usually try to say so, but in this case I just didn't have the heart. But it left me feeling glum & unfestive. Just listening to this song puts me back in better spirits.

ps - wow, did anybody else see that rant about boycotting American women? I was amazed Blogger hadn't picked the dude up as spam already.

huh, what? rant about boycotting American women? I know I've been sucking on many bottles of rum the past few days, so my judgement is a tad bit clouded, but who in his/her (thanks CA) right mind would boycott wahines? Clearly a demented mind. Excuse me, the bottle calls. (hic)
