I walked into the 37th street store last Thursday night planning to buy a couple of waterproof charts and 2012 Eldridge tide & pilot books for myself & the students in an ACA Level 1: Intro to Kayaking class that TQ and I taught in January at the Flushing Meadows Aquatic Center.
I walked out with charts, Eldridges, and an invitation to go sailing in Estonia.

Estonia sailing invitations - aisle four, next to the anchors, right?
That's right, has that happened to you, too?
PS - My favorite quote EVER from a salesperson, as I was wondering out loud if I needed an adorable orca-shaped carabiner clip with an LED flashlight concealed in the whale's jaws -
"There is nothing in this store that you need. Everything in here is a want."
Yes, I do now own an orca-shaped carabiner clip/flashlight.
And I'm going sailing in the Gulf of Finland! Woohoo!
That place is more dangerous to the sailor than uncharted shoals.
So, you're sailing in Estonia?
Details, we need details!
Later! Gotta get somebody an estimate for an accrual. Just couldn't resist a little internet bubbling, I didn't want to say ANYTHING until I got the vacation time cleared but that happened today!
If that's worst, I'd love to see best
What an excellent store!
Looking forward to details
I'll have to collect some of the Estonian trivia that's building up on my Facebook wall right now. I kicked it off with "Did you know that there are over 1,500 islands and islets on the Estonian coastline?" and it's just taken off from there!
I'm going to market a talking wallet that nags when you start to take money out asking annoying questions about what you are buying and why. (A substitute for one's SO when shopping alone.)
