Suggestion: Escape from Black Friday!

Just one of the many, many, many appropriate Black Friday escape routes that are out there - just follow the blazes!

Busy today, so I thought I would swipe my own current Facebook status for a blog post!

Looking forward to Thanksgiving - and maybe even more to our annual Escape from Black Friday! After a day of overindulgence, there's nothing better than skipping the madness at the malls & heading to a park for a good long hike, or the shore for a paddle or a sail. I highly recommend it - seriously, is the money you're going to save really worth the stress? Escape from Black Friday - try it, you'll like it!

Looks familiar. Agony Grind on the AT maybe?

Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, Connecticut. TQ & I have spent a couple of Black Fridays there & unless he has something new in mind I'm betting we'll end up there this coming Friday. Great park, nice set of trails, you can go up to the rim of an old quarry (that's where these blazes go), or along the Cascades Trail that runs down a ravine - all sorts of options & nice & close to TQ's folks' house. Makes for a nice day!

I dig that alternative to shopping in all the stores that become zoos on Black Friday. This getaway is probably safer!

This morning there's freezing rain, so driving out to a mall in the pre-dawn doesn't sound attractive. Might go to the supermarket (no crowds there today!) to pick up a clearance priced turkey.

Meanwhile, making bagels and there are no takers yet on my email to go paddling in the 30 knot breeze.

We talked kayaking, but then decided to go hiking. TQ's got 2 dogs, they love hiking!
