Red-tailed Hawk at the Storm King Art Center

Finally got a chance to try my zoom lens on a bird! I'd had birds in mind when I bought it, but I only ever seem to use it for TUGBOATS! :D

Did you see the mermaid America's Cup boat?

And then the tree ate up the hawk. GLOMP! Happy Halloween!

Baydog - I saw it but do you know that the Storm King Art Center doesn't bother to mention that it's a boat?

Hi there. Now that's putting the new camera to good use! Great picture. I live in Toronto, Canada, and recently, my wife, Jean, and I came upon an adult Red-tailed Hawk in Markham, Ontario. We have read that stalking a hawk is no easy task, that you have to sneak up on them when they are looking the other way. Well, this Hawk was only looking one way when it landed, and that was right at us! Fortunately, we had our camera with us and got some good pictures and video. We have posted them for anyone interested at: http://frametoframe.ca/photo-essay-red-tailed-hawk-sighting-markham-ontario

Thanks, Bob! That was one very patient red-tail, I was just tickled with this picture.

Beautiful photos over on your site - here's a clickable link to that just to make it easier for my friends to visit. I tried to say hi over there but my office computer is funny about some commenting systems. I'll visit again over the weekend, though - lovely shots!
