Here's something fun - Vlad and Johnna are having a name-the-lighthouse contest over on Wind Against Current. This one's, btw, is the Orient Point light at the end of Oyster Pond Reef, aka the "Coffee Pot", theirs are all more Hudson River/NY Harbor area - so if you're a local boater & think you know your lighthouses, go give it a shot!
Tugster? Tugster? Anyone?

Thanks, Bonnie!
BTW, Orient Point Light, too, is being given away to local groups or, if that fails, will be sold...
Looks like a stove pipe in a top hat to me.
Some of us were thinking that Sebago could use a clubhouse at the other end of Long Island, too. We were more looking at Cedar Point - another fixer-upper but we have a lot of skilled craftsmen at the club. :D
PS - Capt. JP, think old-fashioned percolater, like grandma used to have!
Nah, to me it looks like a giant magician pulled a lighthouse out of his giant top hat :)
The snooty St. Francis Yacht Club had the wherewithal to do just what you suggest. In 1960, they bought a decommissioned SF Bay lighthouse and moved the whole lot to their island in the Sacramento delta to use as a summer clubhouse. Nice story of the history and more photos here.
It must be nice, huh?
Ah, Capt JP, now I see the top hat. Hey presto!
Ta-da!
