Waiting for the train, 11/7/2012
Waiting for the train at Newkirk Plaza, post-Sandy nor'easter.
Nice! Actually, I was taking homemade chicken soup over to TQ's for dinner, he works for the parks department out in the Rockaways (peninsula that defines the southern side of Jamaica Bay, and one of the areas that suffered the most from Sandy) and since I had a lot of time to cook last week I've been taking dinner to him quite a bit. I only had 2 long blocks to go and ordinarily I would walk it, but those 2 long blocks are lined with huge old trees. Many went down in Sandy but those that are left are still fairly leafy, and with these big, sticky, wet flakes piling up on their branches, I didn't want to risk the 10-minute walk. I took the train instead.

The subway's lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
