I Wonder If The Inventor Of The Beanbag Chair Was An Open-Water Swimmer.
I hadn't announced a caption contest, but I think Baydog just won it anyways!
O-Docker - how about orange shag carpet? That's what we had when I was a kid. Red in the bedrooms. Of course the good thing about that was it totally hid the red dirt.
1970's shag carpets were made in a wide variety of 'decorator' shades, but the only colors you could put under a beanbag chair were yellow, orange, or avocado green.
Excellent memory, Baydog. That was the very stuff! :D
I believe that shot showed the matching polyester curtains, too. It wasn't so much a matter of "what were we thinking" as that's how the house was decorated when we bought it.
And O-docker, now I think I understand what happened to OUR beanbag chair. My sister and I did have one in our room for a very brief period, until a seam gave way and tiny styrofoam beads went everywhere. Perhaps the malfunction occured because we had carelessly placed it on the RED shag carpet instead of on the ORANGE shag carpet for which it was expressly designed - the stress must have just been too much for it.
Remember that little white tag that said, "Do not remove under penalty of law" ? On the other side it said, "Use only on yellow, orange, or avocado shag carpeting".
While we're on the subject of tacky, 70's furniture...did anyone have one of those wicker chairs hanging over the shag carpet? I used to swing around on that thing and the chain made a grinding sound. Until my brother came running downstairs screaming that there was a bullfrog in his closet.

Tried out a kayack at Lake George last week. It was fun. Maybe I will add one to my boat collection?

Moonstruck, the kayak is the perfect complement to a sailboat - the days there isn't enough wind to bother raising any canvas, off you go anyways!
Of course for me the kayak is also good at the other end of the scale - when there's too MUCH wind!
But that takes a lot of practice.
There is a correlation between Styrofoam bead stuffing and hydrodynamic pressure.
Very powerful stuff.
Single seam stitching is simply not enough.
